Tattoo Wealth Podcast

Back in spring of 2022, I had began a journey seeking out what I could in the subject of finances. Wealth, and it’s vocabulary, isn’t something I’ve had the privilege of getting to know in my youth. As an adult, I can recognize how critical of a tool money can be, and I want to know more. Along the road, I came across someone who’s made it their business to educate and advise tattoo artist’s, like myself, on how to turn their “Ink to Assets”.

Colton Etherton, CFP, and owner of Out Of The Office Planning, also hosts a podcast by the name of Tattoo Wealth. After listening to every episode on my commute to work every morning, I took it upon myself to reach out to Colton about what it takes to join in on the fun. Although, the episodes are incredibly educational and focus on some great topics. I had no idea what it is that I could possibly bring to the table, after all, I really had just started learning.

But on May 2nd, 2022; we recorded my first ever podcast. If you give it a listen, you can hear the nervousness in my voice begin to relax as we chat on. What we result in talking about, though not money related, was how I got my start in this crazy industry in the first place. Including my experiences with the mandatory tattoo school system in Oregon, the sacrifices my husband and I made in order the make tattooing a reality, and how I’m managing myself now. And just two days later, it went live. To be quite frank, public speaking isn’t my strong suit and knowing that anyone could tune in to listen to what I had to say was truly a humbling experience. I still feel fresh to the industry, and my upbringing wasn’t traditional like those who carried the torch before me. It’s easy to question if what I have to say holds any validity. But then again, just like these blogs, I’m sharing my own story that I get to write. I’m quite proud of the feedback; family and friends praising me for my vulnerability, clients viewing it as a business accomplishment. I’m an ant in this growing industry, and in a weird way, that’s comforting.

“It’s a really intense industry, it’s not something to dabble in. You’ve got to put your all into it.” - Jaiden Sky

Since then, I’ve gotten the opportunity to work with Colton “The Tattoo Artist Advisor”, first hand. An incredible person to have in your corner in this industry. And as I continue to learn and expand, I’ll keep you updated. For now, consider me to be in the “toddler” stage of finances, I’m still trying things and falling on my ass a little. That’s part of growth.

Colton got the chance to interview me, so up next on the blog page, I will be interviewing him. If you have not yet, please take the time to listen to our podcast together. #14 “Determined to make it work w/ Jaiden Sky” on the Tattoo Wealth podcast. It can be listened to on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. You can also find more information about Colton and his business over on his website, OOTOPLANNING.COM.

Thank you again Colton, and all who listened, for giving me a platform to tell my story and speak my truth. I look forward to my future endeavors.
